Assessing Site Specificity of Osteoarthritic Gait Kinematics with Wearable Sensors and Their Association with Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs): Knee versus Hip Osteoarthritis

چکیده

There is a great need for quantitative outcomes reflecting the functional status in patients with knee or hip osteoarthritis (OA) to advance development and investigation of interventions OA. The purpose this study was determine if gait kinematics specific disease—i.e., versus OA—can be identified using wearable sensors statistical parametric mapping (SPM) whether disease-related deviations are associated patient reported outcome measures. 113 participants (N = 29 unilateral OA; N 30 54 age-matched asymptomatic persons) completed analysis Knee/Hip Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS/HOOS). Data were analyzed SPM. Knee differed between OA (up 14°, p < 0.001 8°, 0.003 kinematics), differences from controls more pronounced affected than unaffected leg patients. observed ankle, kinematic trajectories KOOS/HOOS both groups. Capturing wearables has large potential application as clinical trials monitoring treatment success cohorts representing major advancement research on musculoskeletal diseases.

Correlation of Single Assessment Numeric Evaluation (SANE) with other Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs)

Background: The Single Assessment Numeric Evaluation (SANE) is a simple, one-question patient-reported outcomemeasure (PROM). We systematically reviewed correlations between SANE and more extensive PROMs.Methods: We identified studies with correlation coefficients between SANE and other shoulder, knee, and anklespecificPROMs. We calculated mean, median and range across studies...

Patient-Reported Outcomes (PROs) and Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs)

In recent years, there has been an increased focus on placing patients at the center of health care research and evaluating clinical care in order to improve their experience and ensure that research is both robust and of maximum value for the use of medicinal products, therapy, or health services. This paper provides an overview of patients' involvement in clinical research and service evaluat...

Understanding patient reported outcome measures (PROMs).

Patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) have been identified as being measures of a patient's health status or health-related quality of life, allowing for health status information to be collected from patients before and after an intervention through completion of a questionnaire. The information collected will provide an indication of the outcomes or quality of care delivered to NHS Patien...

Systematic review of patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) for assessing disease activity in rheumatoid arthritis

Patient assessment of disease activity in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) may be useful in clinical practice, offering a patient-friendly, location independent, and a time-efficient and cost-efficient means of monitoring the disease. The objective of this study was to identify patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) to assess disease activity in RA and to evaluate the measurement properties of thes...
